Mission

Oak Park Township Youth Services (OPTYS) supports programs and services that work for the prevention of juvenile delinquency and which address youth who are at risk of becoming involved or are already engaged in inappropriate and/or illegal activities. OPTYS also advocates for programs and services which enhance the social and emotional development of youth and their families. OPTYS is committed to promoting opportunities for youth and their families to obtain needed services.

Programs and Services

OPTYS engages in a variety of activities and services directly impacting youth and their families, including everything from contracting with other organizations to address specific need areas, to scholarship programs and the Youth Advocacy Council.

Gang & Drug Task Force

Gangs, and the crime, drugs and violence that accompany them, have long ceased to be a problem solely of the inner city. A number of violent, gang-related incidents in the community led officials to formalize the Gang and Drug Task Force of Oak Park and River Forest in 1995.
