“Families Acting Collaboratively to Educate and Involve Teens” is evidence based; family focused alcohol, tobacco and other drug education, prevention, and early intervention program for youth and their parents or caregivers.
FACE-IT consists of 12 two- hour modules offered once per week. Parent(s) and youth attend together and can be referred for 5, 8 or 12 weeks of programming. The modules are both stand-alone and complement one another so families can be referred and begin at any time in the progression (as opposed to waiting for module #1 to start again). The courses teach life skills, critical thinking, anger management etc. Each module is highly interactive, involves education, group activities with parent and youth together, one-on-one exercises with parent and their child, group session with parents only and group session with youth only and homework. Every third class focuses/educates on an illegal substance. Both parent/caretaker and youth are required to attend and complete the program.
