Two citizen-initiated advisory referenda on Township Annual Meeting agenda
In conformity with State of Illinois statute 60 ILCS 1/30-10 (sited in Appendix A) the agenda of the Oak Park Township Annual Meeting will include two advisory referenda (Appendix B) as presented by citizens in petitions to the Township Clerk. The assembled electorate (registered Oak Park voters) will decide by public discussion and vote whether the referenda will be submitted for placement on the November 6, 2012, general election ballot. Approval at this local meeting means that the Township Clerk must submit the referenda to the County Clerk for review and placement on all Oak Park versions of the November ballot.
The Township Board has no role in the Annual Meeting, other then to have approved the agenda, which must include up to three advisory referenda items if submitted properly by citizen petition by March 1. The meeting will be moderated by a citizen nominated and elected by the assembled electorate. The moderator must follow the approved agenda. The Annual Meeting will be held on April 10th, 6:30 p.m. at the Oak Park Arms Ballroom, 408 South Oak Park Avenue Oak Park, IL 60302.
