Township Board Creates Financial Advisory Committee to the Township (FACT)

The Oak Park Township Board of Trustees has established an Advisory Committee to provide structured systematic review of the organization’s governance, risk management, and internal control practices.

The committee will review the Township’s policies, procedures and programs, and provide the board with independent advice. This advice and guidance may also include suggestions and recommendations to enhance and improve operations.

The Township Board is seeking three Oak Park residents to serve as independent members of the committee. Two members will serve an initial three-year term, and a subsequent two-year term. The third member will serve up to two two-year terms.  Interested residents should possess sufficient knowledge of advisory roles, finance, IT, the law, risk, and internal controls. The Committee will meet quarterly and provide the Board with an annual report.  All Financial Advisory Committee Township (FACT) meetings will be subject to the Illinois Open Meetings Act.

Township Supervisor Clarmarie Keenan stated, “This is an opportunity for the Township board to be even more transparent and engaged with the community.  We anticipate the feedback we receive will help build on and improve our record of service to the community.”

The Board Resolution from the April 24th 2018 meeting may be found here.
