Oak Park property owners concerned about their property taxes have an opportunity to do something about next year’s tax bills. According to Oak Park Township Assessor Ali ElSaffar, Oak Park property owners can appeal their 2015 assessed values with the Cook County Board of Review through September 1.

Fit and Strong Program at Senior Services

The Oak Park Township Senior Lunch Program is hosting Fit and Strong - an evidence based, multiple component exercise program. It combines flexibility, strength training and aerobic walking with health education for sustained behavior change among older adults. Gain a clear understanding of osteoarthritis. Learn to perform safe stretching, balance, aerobic and strengthening exercises which gradually increase in frequency, duration and intensity over time.

A guy who failed Statistics 101 might summarize the changes in this year's property tax bills by saying that tax increases were modest for the average Oak Park taxpayer.  After all, Oak Park property owners as a group experienced tax increases of just 1.6% this year.  But averages can be deceptive, as was the case for the man "with one foot in the oven and one foot in an ice bucket." Based on the average temperature, the poor man should be perfectly comfortable!

Free Summer Lunch for Youth Ends August 14th, 2015

Sponsored by the West Cook YMCA, the Oak Park River Forest Food Pantry, Wild About Wellness and No Kid Hungry, a free summer lunch program for youth aged 18 and younger begins June 15th, 2015 and ends Friday, August 15th, 2015.

Lunch will be served from 12:00 noon to 1:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at the West Cook YMCA, 255 S. Marion Street in Oak Park.
