Youth Services Interventionist Supervisor

Oak Park Township is seeking an experienced professional social services supervisor to supervise our Youth Intervention Program within the Youth Services Department. Youth Services supports programs and services that address youth through the implementation of prevention techniques, crisis intervention, restorative justice, therapeutic involvement, case management and coordination of wraparound services with other community partners and agencies. Youth Services also advocates for programs and services which enhance the social /emotional development of youth and their families. Youth Services is committed to promoting positive opportunities for youth and families and to helping the youth and their families access needed services.


The Youth Services Interventionist Supervisor:

  • Supervises the youth interventionists and their work with clients and in the community
  • Maintains a small caseload of youth clients
  • Maintain a youth interventionist referral system
  • Develops relationships and partnerships with organizations that service youth in the Oak Park and River Forest Communities
  • Attend community meetings, networking events, and partnering events as needed
  • Give presentations, professional development and participate in programming when invited to community partners (ie: schools, library, police department) on best practices for working with Youth, about the Interventionist Program, or other clinical/therapeutic interventions that you are an “expert”/trained in.

The position requires a Master’s degree in social work, counseling, or another social services related field and at least 2 years of supervisory experience including direct experience in working with youth issues including gangs, violence, substance abuse, mental health, education, activities, and employment. Licenses/Certifications either an LCSW, LCPC, clinical psychologist or related license is preferred.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for small groups as well as large group presentations
  • Flexibility to adjust to unpredictability and the ability to prioritize
  • Supervisory experience for employees with varying cultural and educational backgrounds, and leadership skills in a variety of contexts
  • Sensitivity to protecting confidential information
  • Ability to manage conflict

Oak Park Township is a unique unit of Oak Park local government, providing human services to vulnerable citizens of our community: at-risk youth needing guidance to improve their chances for a successful life, senior citizens needing support to maintain their independence and financially struggling residents who need monthly assistance and job seeking help.  In addition, the Township provides funding for mental health agencies and assistance with property tax inquiries and appeals.
