Community Mental Health Board

Members of the Community Mental Heath Board are appointed by the Township Trustees to four-year terms. Responsibilities include: planning for services with funds available in the areas of mental illness, developmental disability, alcohol and substance abuse. Board members assess, plan, organize and supplement resources to make services more accessible to Oak Park residents. The three committees within the Board are the Finance Committee, the Program Committee and the Executive Committee. These committees identify needs and try to meet them as well as oversee policy making and the budgeting process. The Board looks for individuals with social service experience or experience in other areas directly and indirectly related to the field of mental health. The Community Mental Health Board meets on the third Tuesday of every month.

Members of the Youth Services Committee are appointed by the Township Trustees to three-year terms. The Committee engages in a variety of activities and services directly impacting youth and their families. The most important aspect of our work is contracting with agencies, organizations, institutions, as well as parent and youth groups for programs that address specific need areas. Annually we contract with more than twenty agencies, providing over fifty educational, recreational and vocational programs. The Committee supervises, monitors, and evaluates programs to ensure high quality programs for youth. The two subcommittees are the Finance Committee and the Program and Personnel Committee. These subcommittees review Oak Park Township Youth Services Goals and Objectives, Mission Statement, assess the needs for Contracts and Program Development for the Fiscal Year and evaluate the Director. The Committee looks for individuals with a commitment to the welfare of area youth. Experience working with youth is helpful, but not necessary.
